How Close is The Alex Hotel To Trinity College?

The Alex Hotel is in the heart of Georgian Dublin, a short distance from the famous front gates of the Trinity College campus – approximately 750 metres (less than half a mile), while there is an option to enter via the Arts Building on Nassau Street (which is on the way as you walk). Why visit Trinity College?

Trinity College is more than four hundred year’s old and therefore steeped in history. There are fantastic guided tours where you can hear about the fantastic stories of the institution over the centuries, from famous alumni such as Oscar Wilde (whose home is also near to The Alex Hotel), Samuel Beckett and many more – to the role it played in an evolving city.

Trinity College is also home to The Book of Kells, an ancient manuscript which takes its name from the Abbey of Kells where it was discovered in c. 800 AD. The breath-taking Trinity College library is a very popular attraction in itself and well worth a peek while in Dublin. There is also the fantastic grounds which are ideal for a nice midday stroll which many guests of The Alex Hotel enjoy.

Is it free to visit Trinity College?

You may roam the campus grounds for the most part, during the day, with some restrictions. The library is open to the public and you may visit at certain times with restrictions. The Book of Kells and other exhibits do require a ticket, prices start at €11. See more on the Trinity website. It is advised to book online to avoid long queues.

Can you walk around Trinity College Dublin?

Yes, during the daytime it is perfectly fine to roam the grounds of the Trinity College campus. It can be a pleasant shortcut while you stroll from The Alex Hotel to nearby attractions such as Grafton Street and Temple Bar.
